Social Effects of Turkish Drama Serial Ertugrul Ghazi on Female of Pakistan: A Study of District Mansehra

Aim of the Study: Pakistan is one of those countries where most people use cable and satellite TV dramas as an entertainment medium. The culture of Pakistan is very rich and people follow traditions, norms and values set by their forefathers. The aim of the study was to investigate and explore the popularity of the Turkish Dramas on female viewers in the perspective of social change and social adoption.
Methodology: Present research study is based on survey technique to investigate the social effects of Turkish drama on Pakistani female specially residents of district Mansehra. The survey research technique was used to collect the data from relevant sample. The population of the study was female respondents of Mansehra who are studying in different colleges, schools and university. The sample was selected according to Dr. John Curry sampling formula and sample size was (n=500) female respondents. A standardized close-ended questionnaire was used for data collection and later the collected data was analysed by using SPSS for statistical analysis.
Findings: The exclusive analysis of the data reveals that 89.8% female respondents frequently watch Turkish drama Ertugrul Ghazi followed by 83.8% females agree that this drama has great influence upon them. More than 80% female also use Turkish words which they learn after watching Ertugrul Ghazi.
Conclusion: The study concluded that due to Urdu translation and some Turkish words used in the Ertugrul Ghazi it enables the educated females to understand the culture, tradition, values and customs practice in Türkiye. Moreover, it is also concluded that due to this drama youngsters in Pakistan feel very close with the people of Türkiye and it became very easy for them to understand another country’s culture.
